Documentary filmmaking is taking the nation by storm. What was once a fringe art form is now mainstream, even getting nationwide theatrical releases in theaters. The rise of Netflix and YouTube has played a huge role in documentary filmmaking becoming one of the more dominant film art forms.
This short documentary above won Silver at an international commercial filmmaking competition in February 2020.

Below is a trailer for a feature length documentary that is currently making rounds at film festivals around the nation. It was created in 8 days of filming on a road trip around Texas with an incredible woman who was a professor and is of the same generation as Dr. Jorgensen.

In todays world of oversaturated media, consumers will simply move on from anything that isn’t up to the quality standards they have come to expect from their favorite TV shows and movies. In order to have the kind of impact you need for this project, the quality has to be of the highest caliber.
Anything less than top quality will have an extremely high bounce rate. Above is an example of a project that (while unrelated to this project) had the full team working together to deliver top quality. This particular piece had over 8,000 organic views in the first 7 days on Facebook. Not bad for a real estate sales video!
Documentary Film proposal
Why is Liberty important to Americans? Why is the two party system broken?
This is a story about uniting American’s once again under the banner of Liberty.
Showing the dissatisfaction of the American people with the two party system.
Jo and by virtue of the nomination the LP are the vehicle for this movement toward Liberty.
Why is Jo running and why does it matter in the middle of overwhelming odds with the two party system?
How is the Jorgensen campaign bringing together diverse groups of people from all over America to say, enough is enough?
A story of hope for humanity. Showing that Americans know how to pursue life, liberty and happiness better than the federal government.
There has never been a better time to grow this movement.
The disgust of the two party system is at an all-time high. Now is the time to create a film to help those who have turned away from the Republicans and Democrats find their new home with the Libertarian Party.
One of Dr. Jorgensen’s top goals is to break her own previous record of growing the membership of the party. A documentary film is an amazing way to do that.
This film will be an incredible tool for Libertarians to educate their friends and family on the values of Liberty and the importance of moving our country back toward personal freedom and responsibility.
Jordan has built a level of trust and mutual comfortability with Dr. Jorgensen that will be a unique asset other filmmakers won’t have time to build.
October 29 Release Goal
We need to strike while the fire is hot! We will release the film the week before the election.
We will use the footage Jordan Bunch has already gathered from the campaign, along with the 2nd September bus tour. This will help save a tremendous amount of money by repurposing the footage.
We will collaborate with the campaign to help craft the overarching narrative for the film. Rather than trusting Film Mavericks to craft the vision for the film, we will see ourselves as teammates in the creation process. However, with the incredibly fast turn around time required for this project we will need to be given the freedom to take certain creative liberties.
Documentary Budget
2 Extra days filming Jo in Greensboro home/work environment $5000.
This will include additional crew as we will get a large portion of her background story here. We want to do these scenes with more lighting and a bigger setup.
4 weeks of story editing - $15,000
1 week of audio post - $6000
We are bringing in our contractor from Hollywood for post audio and final mix on this.
Voiceover Narration - $1500
4 days of Pre-production - $2000
Total - $29,500
Distribution/Investment Return
We will put this documentary on Amazon Prime for the 112 million members to have access.
Amazon prime does a 50% cost sharing of purchases and rentals.
By hosting this on Prime for a $5 rental fee we will collect $2.50 from every rental.
Film Mavericks will reimburse the Campaign/LP for the full $29,500 once viewership has reached 11,800 and Amazon sends the funds. This means the profit from the first 11,800 rentals will go directly back into the LP.
Film Mavericks will then enter a profit sharing model with the LP, where 50% of all additional profits go directly to the LP.
