Church Reimagined
Pew Research says, the “number of Americans that believe in God has dropped to a historic new low.” Church attendance is nearing 5% monthly nationwide. Americans are not rejecting the church because of Jesus. They are rejecting Jesus because of the church.
But what if instead of the world hearing stories of the church’s hypocrisy, and the long list of things the church opposes, they witnessed stories of the church living deeply into the Kingdom life in ways most Americans have never heard of?
What if instead of monotonous preaching or a fancy laser/smoke show, they saw a life lived in deep community on mission with God?
The church in America is rapidly moving away from its colonial and modern towers and into living rooms, parks, apartment common spaces, dorm rooms, shared land, coffee shops, bars and RV parks.
The church is moving away from multimillion dollar programs and towards a shared life together... but chances are you’ve never heard about it. These churches don’t have a big sign, billboards, Facebook advertising campaigns or mailers announcing their Easter service... some don’t even have a name.
Jesus is helping His people re-imagine what life in His Kingdom can be. He is softening the clay and molding it anew.
Societies are re-shaped by the telling of stories powerful enough, pervasive enough to take the old narratives and wipe them away.
Film Mavericks’ mission is to tell the story of the Church as Jesus has been reimagining it nationwide.
International award winning documentary filmmaker of “Longing for Liberty,” (available on Amazon Prime) Jordan Taylor Bunch is launching a new documentary series called, “Church Re-Imagined.”
In this series, he and his family will RV across the country exploring the incredibly diverse and unique places that God’s Kingdom is coming on earth like it is in heaven. They will spend 2 weeks in each episode living with a different Christian faith community diving deep into what their shared life of faith and mission looks like.
In the process viewers will see a new way of life in the Kingdom that is driven with a purpose and passion they have not seen before. They will also witness how these communities shape the young Bunch family as Jordan and Sara reflect with them about the things they are experiencing in each community.
Intentional Christian Community Survey Project
The videos below were filmed and edited on an extremely low budget. They were created not to showcase the style, quality or concept of the film project. Rather they were created to document and explore the idea of the creation of a film project utilizing these communities and many others like them as the main driver of the content. Essentially they were research videos.
You can view them like a series of video podcasts that help you understand at a broad level some of the bigger questions about what life in an intentional community looks like.
Bunch Family Vlog
This family vlog was mostly filmed on my iPhone in between a grueling week of constant interviews… my middle daughter being sick, and logging 20,000 steps a day making my way around the camp venue for interviews… It gives a small glimpse into what traveling with my family is like, but my wife and middle daughter aren’t featured much because of the illness.
